Την προηγούμενη Τετάρτη 18 Μαΐου έφθασε στο «Βήμα» ένα e-mail. Από τη διεύθυνση του ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου υποθέσαμε ότι ο αποστολέας βρισκόταν στο εξωτερικό. Το μήνυμα υπέγραφε μια κοπέλα με το παράξενο όνομα... Προμηθέα Πυθία. Οπως έγραφε, «αποφοίτησα πέρυσι σε ηλικία 13 ετών και έχω πτυχίο (bachelor) στην Επιστήμη των Μαθηματικών». Στο e-mail σημείωνε ότι διαβάζει την ηλεκτρονική έκδοση του «Βήματος» και ενημερώνεται για όσα συμβαίνουν στην Ελλάδα. Και αμέσως σήμανε ένας μικρός συναγερμός. Ποια ήταν αυτή η κοπέλα που φαινόταν να ξέρει ελληνικά; Πού ακριβώς βρίσκόταν και με ποιον τρόπο μπορούσαμε να εντοπίσουμε αυτό το παιδί-θαύμα;

H αναζήτησή μας είχε αίσιο αποτέλεσμα, χάρη και στη βοήθεια της υψηλής τεχνολογίας. Εντοπίσαμε τη νεαρή Προμηθέα στο Λίβινγκστον της Μοντάνα των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών, όπου μένει μαζί με την ελληνικής καταγωγής μητέρα της, Γεωργία Σμιθ, 51 ετών. Μετά το τέλος των σπουδών της Προμηθέας στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Πολιτείας της Μοντάνα τον Δεκέμβριο του 2004, μάνα και κόρη μετακόμισαν στο καινούργιο τους σπίτι. Από τότε, η Προμηθέα μαθαίνει κάθε είδους χειρωνακτικές εργασίες, όπως αυτές του ξυλουργού και του ηλεκτρολόγου, διαβάζοντας βιβλία για αρχαρίους ώστε το σπίτι να είναι κατοικήσιμο. Τι καλύτερη απόδειξη για την έμφυτη ικανότητά της να ρουφά τη γνώση;

* Υψηλές φιλοδοξίες

* Συστηματικό διάβασμα

PROMETHEA OLYMPIA KYRENE PYTHAIDA'S LIFE IN HER OWN WORDS

THE LIFE OF PROMETHEA OLYMPIA KYRENE PYTHAIDA IN HER OWN WORDS

My mother's bloodline is originally from Crete.   Her mother's family line is Maniatakis. My mother's father Mr. Stelios Kotsakis was Prosfygas (refugee) from Smyrne of Minor Asia, in Ionia.  His mother's line is Georganda

On March 13th 1991 I was born after a difficult pregnancy during which my mother repeatedly saved my life, risking her own by refusing medical interventions suggested by the attending physicians. Finally the doctor told her he was not willing to attend to her as long as she did not accept his medical advice. So mother was left without a doctor. For this reason I was born at home, with the assistance of a midwife.

For the first three months of my life I was a 90 percentile infant, which is 90% of all children were below me in growth statistically. After I received my first immunization, at age 3 months my growth slowed immediately and drastically.

My pediatrician suspected that I suffered from a complication of the vaccines called the Immunization Syndrome and could offered no solution, but predicted a fateful outcome. My mother did not take kindly to her cold facts, and sought alternative solutions.  Homeopathy!  My mother would not consider further immunizations for me.  Her decision was ABSOLUTE. My half brother Apollo had suffered in the past from similar serious affliction immediately after hs immunizations with the effect that he was left with a severe and permanent mental and physical disability

On the other hand, although my physical growth was temporarily impaired my mental growth was affected only minimally because by six months I begun talking, and by a year I had begun reading. I can remember I was under severe pain day in and day out then.  That should not surprise you because my memory works remarkably well and I have memories from an extremely early age.  I remember clearly the room in which I was born, the color of its walls and its ceiling, and even the clothes I wore on the third day after my birth, when my mother took me for the first time out of our apartment to visit my pediatrician.

My mother’s intensive care and homeopathy brought improvement but very very slowly.   As I mentioned earlier, my metabolism had suffered a severe blow due to the immunizations and in the course of time I developed anorexia. But my mother kept cooking and kept feeding me. Relatives suggested to Mother to give up, that she should let me die.  My mother was furious with anyone who talked about death and me in the same sentence. I am glad my mother made me eat.  She gave my body the time to heal itself. I ended up in good health with a wonderful appetite.

At the age of two years I had given my first two piano recitals, and begun elementary school, and higher level studies in literature, astronomy, zoology, earth science and such.  Mathematics had never entered the picture, because my mother was busy buying me books with lots of pretty pictures to keep my hungry mind entertained.  Children love colors and pictures.  Math books have no pictures to offer, and are too dry, so she thought.  I was extremely skilled in art.

By the age of three (3) years the Social Services of Bozeman had engaged in a war with my mother, trying to take my half brother Apollo away from her telling her that he is mentally too handicapped and needs to be institutionalized.  My mother was not going to let anyone take any of her children away, not even her precious Apollo, also a highly gifted child who unfortunately sustained severe mental and physical damage due to the immunizations, which he received fully for the first two years of his life, so he remains handicapped for life.  Mother was then attending the 7th year of her College education at Montana State University (MSU), where I now attend, and she was on her last semester before graduating with two degrees, one in Fine Arts, and one in English Literature, for secondary level (High School Teacher).   She had to choose between a future career, or save her child from getting institutionalized.  She chose to save the child.  He was then 16 years old.  We packed up and left, and went to California.  Poverty followed.  Her credit was ruined.  Still to this day she does not regret her choice.

In California my mother introduced me to Mathematics.  At the age of three all I could do was count to 20.  That was it!  That is all I had been taught, and exposed to.  In a week’s time after teaching me, my counting improved at a breathtaking pace. In a week’s time, I went from pre-kindergarten level mathematics to College level.   My mother by then was introducing me to high school and college level reading material in literature and sciences.  Now she added mathematics.

By the age of four(4) years the San Francisco Music Hall, after auditioning me playing the piano, offered me free instruction to any and as many  musical instruments as I would like, to honor my unusual gift in music.  But by then I knew what I was born to do in my life, and I knew it will take more than music to save this planet.  So, I told my mother that I want to pursue the Sciences.  She respected my decision, and music was left aside.  I played the piano for some years more, and later when apartment policy forbade me to play my piano, for 5 years it remained locked.  Now it is severely damaged from moisture, out of tune, with many broken keys.  Music had a sad end.  Still, one day I dream of playing the Bassoon.  I love this instrument! And the next is a real Harp!

Then, by the age of five (5), almost six, my half sister Vanessa was in a car crush.  My mother had to make the difficult choice to return to Montana to take care of her. We spent three months in Montana helping Vanessa.  When we returned to San Francisco we found our belongings gone out of our apartment, because we were evicted.

We lived for many months in our van, running like fugitives to new neighborhoods each day not to draw any attention.  If the police found out I was homeless, they would have the Social Services take me away from my mother.  Neither of us would have survived the separation.  So!  We had to run and hide and live on very stretched means.  But during those hard times, my education went on, slowly, despite the difficult circumstances.  High-school material was done and over with. Now before me was just College level work.

A new exciting opportunity arose when at the age of 5 years I visited SLAC=The Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and Mother arranged for me to speak with the director of Physics at Stanford Dr. Yearian. After talking with me he advised my mother she must immediately enroll me at EPGY=Educational Program for Gifted Youth. I was a little over six years (6) when the Stanford University accepted me as a student at their EPGY program.

By the age six and a half, or so, I was back in Montana, and inside, at last, an apartment.  I was still continuing studying with Stanford U. but also auditing MSU classes for credit.  CBS News-48 Hours aired internationally the episode “Whiz Kids” which talked about me as “The Brain Child”.  They were told about me by Stanford University, who in essence violated the signed privacy guarantee.   The local newspaper “Bozeman Daily Chronicle” against my mother’s wishes wrote an article about me, and next thing you know all of Bozeman and the entire planet knew about me, a secret my mother had tried hard to protect

MSU decided to let me enroll officially, and a Mormon family took over my tuition and scholarship expenses. But they refused any further support when Mother and I politely refused to convert to the Mormon faith. After losing 3 semesters of study, due to economic hardship, I graduated at the age of thirteen years (13) with a mathematics degree, the youngest age ever for a graduate of Montana State University   on Dec. 17, 2004, according to the MSU's registrar's office.

In 2003 I formally changed my name from Jasmine Li Lysistrata to Promethea Olympia Kyrene Pythaitha, which hints at a liberating oracle, because I have always felt I've got something important to do, like fulfilling an oracle. I want to to do research and to use the knowledge to serve humanity. Einstein used at an early age to be my idol, my hero, but when I learned he contributed to the creation of the atomic bomb and to the deaths of hundreds of thousands at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I tore down my Einstein posters from my wall. "I'm not going to be a scientist who's not morally upright," I said to myself.

During this time Mother worked cleaning houses and offices, often the midnight shift, so she could accompany me to all my classes, during the day, to keep me safe.   She sacrificed everything for me. At times it was hard for me, being elementary-school age in an adult world. Some students were supportive, and those she'll never forget. But others ignored or taunted me or refused to work in labs with me. My mother would attend classes to protect and support me. But we were both elated, going to college. It looked like the gates of Heaven had opened up to me

After my graduation, money for my studies dried out completely. A rich Jew – of Zionist ideas– approached us and offered to assist us at that point. He offered to send me to continue my studies under the supervision of a Jewish Professor at the University of Chicago with all expenses paid and to send me on a summer vacation at a special camp where gifted children like me are trained under the supervision of exclusively Jewish teachers-not just a summer camp, but a special place for intensive academic instruction.

His financial offer was phenomenal, but Mother and I rejected it out of hand, despite my urgent need for higher education and our hopeless financial outlook. Our reasons must be perfectly clear to you. We had absolutely no wish to turn into Mormons or Zionists, we wished to remain HELLENES!

After a year spent in misery, deprived from my right to an education, I wrote an angry letter to the Senators of our State claiming my Right for free education since I was still a child. The Senators agreed to provide assistance only up to the age of 16 despite the fact the law provides for education free of charge for children up to the age of 18. It took, one and half (1.1/2) years before I could get back to school to continue my education. At the age of 14 and ½ + years I re-entered school to complete my nearly finished degrees in:

Computer Science

Chemistry-Professional Option

Physics-Professional Option.

while completing my Master’s in mathematics, and on with the PhD.

While pursuing these degrees I have already initiated my studies for the

following degrees:

Electrical Engineering

Computer Engineering

Μechanical Engineering

Astrophysics

Biochemistry

Statistics.

But my problems remained multifold and the financial situation extremely strained. The local University refused to cover any expenses other than tuition fees such as to and fro transportation, thee cost of books and other school related costs

As a result, after Mother had to spent our scant savings to buy gasoline –our residence being far from the University Campus- and just a few of the books needed to follow the numerous classes I was taking, we came to a financial impasse and I had to temporarily stop attending courses The University people were furious and showed absolutely no understanding and no desire to assist us in our dire predicament

At that point it was that we heard of the PanHellenic Scholarship Organization’s work under the private supervision of philhellenes. I applied for their assistance and they agreed to stand by me assuring me that they would continue to assist me in the future until I conclude my studies. At least that is what I could infer from their words: “Now that we have found you, we won t let go of you! Whatever you may need, you just have to ask us”. Their words were for me a reassuring salvation. I took it for a moment there for granted that the fierce fight to secure the elementary means for my education had come to a successful end.

Then I was invited to deliver the speech to the Meeting of SAE at Chicago

I chose to speak of History.  Because as we say here in the States: " Those who fail to learn History are doomed to repeat it.  Those who fail to learn History correctly are simply Doomed!"  I decided to open for the Hellenes a small window -a 20 minute little window-that they may see some of their true history.

I had little time to prepare I had only 6 free days to research the topic and to write about it. I read in these 6 days over 50 books and endless articles, before I could form a case that would present the topic from both sides as unbiased as can be.  The original speech was of course very long as I was originally given the impression I had 45 minutes, or so, to deliver it. To make things worse, I had no idea I was supposed to speak from a podium, with so may people below me.  I have never ever before had to address such a huge audience.  Everything was so new.  Everything was a first for me but I knew exactly what I had to say.

Based on the reading I had done, I knew that no matter what choice of words I made, i would certainly meet with hostility.  I had realized, early on during my research that the people before my eyes, these dear most beloved Ellenes  -  Soul of my soul -  who had just applauded me with a sincere welcome, despite our Hellenic Blood  that joined us together that day, they would be unable to accept my conclusions without drawing the Christian sword of enmity and fanaticism.  I knew I was entering an arena where all things were possible.

Yet one thing was not possible. I was not going to walk down and leave them in their sweet deadly oblivion of ignorance. I was not going to lie to them, come what may.  I was not going to abandon them.  I loved them.

So I addressed them with all my heart's love.  I praised their greatness, for they were the children of a beautiful and blessed race of Gods, and Heroes. And I shared with them the records of HISTORY-our Tragic History... and I trusted in them that some will be awakened, that they in turn may awake others, and those others awaken others, that the flame of freedom may be passed on, that the civilization of our great forefathers may at last return to its KOITIDA. The rest is History. You have seen the video and I have described  the events in a letter to the magazine  Davlos (Link)

After the speech at Chicago, many of those who had opened their doors to me now not just closed them, but barred me from even contacting them by E-Mail. This is my long struggle for education, a painful uphill struggle. Isn’t it strange, though that I lost three times my chance to forward my education, first on account of the Mormons, then on account of the Jewish Zionists and last in the hands of Christian Orthodox

As things stand, there is no way I will allow the sale of my beliefs and of my Greek conscience the loss of my soul. I am prepared to take it as far as my road will allow. Whenever I may come upon an impasse, I will not cry, I will not kneel down.

Again we had to struggle from financial scratch, trying to complete the current quarter. But unfortunately we had a car crash on April 2nd.  The car malfunctioned, both steering and the brakes failing at the same time. My Mother chose to crash on her side of the car so she took the brunt of the crash. She suffered seven rib fractures, the lungs have suffered along some tear and bleeding.  Air leaking out of the lungs, and some hemorrhaging has caused mother what the doctors call "pneumo-thorax", severe facial and right eye trauma and had to spend two weeks in intensive care.

At last the hospital released my mother the evening of April 16th.  She is not in a position to take care of herself yet.  Her condition can easily lead to pneumonia, and worse.  She is presently at my brother's apartment where there is plenty of heat, a restroom, and it is in town very close to the hospital and to doctors in the event of an emergency.  She is pretty heavily sedated, and oxygen is provided to her via a machine called the "compressor" which takes room air, strips off it the nitrogen, concentrates the oxygen and delivers it to the patient, in my mother's case via a mask she has to wear over her face.

I have missed school for the third week now, and since our car is wrecked I lost all hope of ever getting back to school.  The thought drives me insane but as I look at my mother and all that she did to try to keep me safe I am engulfed with great sorrow and I find myself praying ceaselessly that she may get well.

Please give my love to Mr. Kalopoulos, and I wish to congratulate him for taking a brave stance on public TV to expose the deception of the "holy light" and his efforts to assist us.  I heard he was not treated any better than I was when I gave the Chicago Speech.  But in war this dark side is to be expected.  We must fight for Ellas come what may.   We have to win.
