Basil Venitis, twitter.com/Venitis, points out that for 35 years since dictatorship, Pasokleptocrats and Neodemokleptocrats who took turns in running Greece, the most corrupt country on Earth, borrowed as if there were no tomorrow, and they received 200 billion euros in kickbacks from Siemens, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, MAN, antitrust, military purchases, monasteries, and many more. Through mismanagement, robbery, kickbacks, and nepotism, they drove the cradle of democracy to the brink of bankruptcy with a nominal official public debt of 350 billion euros, but a real public debt of one trillion euros!
It is the first time that every Greek is realizing that after years of Graecokleptocracy, it's time to fight back Graecokleptocrats with guns. It's the only hopeful sign, actually. Greece has no choice but to reinvent itself. Reinventing Greece and cleaning up after years of Graecokleptocracy, however, is going to be a task worthy of Hercules. The time has come to pay the bill. And paying that bill, with the economy in the middle of a recession, is going to hurt. Nominal unemployment rate has hit 12%, and the real unemployment rate calculated by Basil Venitis is 25%!
No Graecokleptocrat has ever gone to jail! Venitis asserts that impunity of Graecokleptocrats is the most freakish justice in the world! The most infamous house on Earth is the Greek Parliament, aka the Grand Brothel of Syntagma Square, which houses 300 wild prostitutes, minotaurs that suck the blood of Greeks! There is a Starbucks outside of the Athens Cathedral on Metropolis Avenue, and many Athenians dream of the day they could carry guns at Starbucks and shoot at Graecokleptocrats entering the cathedral!
But the major global news media was replete with reports over the weekend that the coffee company, Starbucks, has no problem with customers packing heat while placing their orders. The coffee giant says it won't take issue with gun owners who take advantage of open carry laws and bring firearms into their restaurant.
Venitist Chuck Baldwin cannot understand why this is even considered newsworthy. Perhaps because Starbucks is a Seattle-based company that caters to the yuppie crowd? Maybe because the antigun national news media is shocked and chagrined at Starbucks' statement? Who knows? That Starbucks would not want to alienate millions of gun owners (many of whom lawfully carry concealed weapons for personal protection) makes perfectly good sense to Baldwin. Baldwin is sure the statement by Starbucks has little to do with guns and everything to do with business. But the fact is, there are tens of thousands of lawfully armed citizens who carry either concealed or open that have been peacefully doing business with thousands of companies around the country for years.
At last glance, 12 states allow unrestricted open carry. Those states are Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, South Dakota, Vermont, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia. Plus, at least 13 other states allow restricted open carry (meaning a permit is required). Baldwin knows it infuriates gun-grabbing antivenitists to admit this, but the facts are absolutely undeniable that an armed citizenry is far and away a more civilized and peaceful citizenry.
Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence, and third American President Thomas Jefferson rightly said that laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
Founding Father, the man called the father of the U.S. Constitution, and 4th American President James Madison, agreed with Jefferson. He wrote in Federalist, Number 46, that the Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed, which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.
Founding Father and author of the classic Revolution-era books, Common Sense and Rights of Man, Thomas Paine concurred. He said that arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.
And should there be any doubt in the minds of sincere men regarding the advantages and appropriateness of an armed citizenry, the research of venitist John Lott is more than sufficient to dispel it. Lott is a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland, College Park. He was previously the John Olin Visiting Law and Economics Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School. His book, "More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws," is the most authoritative and thoroughly researched volume on the subject. And the title of his book is exactly what his research proves: More guns, less crime!
Venitis asserts that Athenians need guns now! Citizens have the right to decide how best to protect themselves, their families and their property. Citizens who have guns in their homes sleep more comfortably because of it. Studies show that where gun ownership is illegal, residential burglaries are higher. A man with a gun in his home is no threat to you if you aren't breaking into it. The police do not provide security in your home, your business or the street. They show up after the crime to take reports and do detective work. The poorer the neighborhood, the riskier it is for peaceful residents.

Only an armed citizenry can be present in sufficient numbers to prevent or deter violent crime before it starts, or to reduce its spread. Interviews with Graecokleptocrats and convicted felons indicate that fear of the armed citizen significantly deters crime. Kleptocrats and police now seek to ban semi-automatic rifles. They ignore the fact that only honest citizens will comply; criminals will still have them. Such a ban will only increase the criminals' ability to victimize the innocent.
